Tomorrow's Environmental Impact
Sustainability and Climate Protection
All banks use their customers’ money to give loans and make investments. Many banks give loans and make investments in industries that operate at the expense of our environment. Tomorrow aims to change that with a strict list of criteria of where your money will go. Tomorrow believes in supporting sustainable businesses with every loan and investment. Furthermore, with every transaction you make with your debit card, Tomorrow contributes to climate protection. Lastly, with Tomorrow Zero, you can offset your carbon footprint by investing in climate protection projects in developing countries
Tomorrow capital is the money Tomorrow has in its accounts. All banks invest this money, but not all banks invest it in sustainable businesses. For example, major banks often invest money in sectors such as armaments, factory farming or coal-fired power plants. Tomorrow is different. It uses the money to invest in sustainable projects that support protecting our environment. Tomorrow only supports businesses with projects that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations: protecting natural resources, ensuring basic needs, protecting the climate and empowering disadvantaged groups. So far, Tomorrow as invested €9,800,000 in sustainable projects.
Climate Protection Contribution
Every time you use your debit card, Tomorrow gives money to global climate protection projects. Here’s how it works: When you make a payment with your card, the seller pays an “interchange fee” to the bank that issued the card. This happens all around the world, and it is how a lot of banks make a significant part of their income. You, the customer, don’t have to pay anything. It’s just between the seller and the bank. Usually banks just keep this money for themselves, but Tomorrow puts the money towards international climate protection projects. More specifically, the seller pays the bank 0.2% of the amount of the transaction. Some of this money is used to cover the cost of processing the transaction, and then bank keeps the rest. What’s left over is 0.13% of the amount of the transaction. Rather than keep the money for themselves like most banks, Tomorrow puts all of the money towards climate protection projects. So far, Tomorrow has used this money to save 37,403,072 m2 of rainforest, and 6,309,272 trees.
With Tomorrow Zero, you can offset your carbon footprint by investing in climate protection projects in developing countries. With the premium account, you help fund three climate protection projects. First, you support small farmers in Peru, which protects the rainforest from deforestation. Secondly, you fund the installation of clean biogas plants in Vietnam. Thirdly, your money goes towards boreholes in Uganda that give people access to clean drinking water.
For the free Tomorrow account, you can withdraw money for free three times per month. Every withdrawal afterwards costs two euros. Any withdrawals you make in foreign currencies (not in Euro) cost 1.5% of the amount you withdraw.
With Tomorrow Zero account, you can make unlimited cash withdrawals for free. Furthermore, there are no fees for withdrawing cash in foreign currencies.
In regards to payments you make in foreign currencies, Tomorrow follows the VISA exchange rate.
It’s important to note that some ATMs charge fees. Tomorrow cannot intercept the fees. Before you make a withdrawal, the ATM will tell you how much the fee is. You will have the option to cancel the cash withdrawal and go to a different ATM.
A replacement debit card costs €10. If the reason you need a new card is due to Tomorrow, then Tomorrow will replace your card for free. You will also get a new card for free if your card expires.

This project supports 400 indigenous families in southeastern Peru. 2. Biogas installations in Vietnam Many people in Vietnam still use wood and charcoal for cooking and heating. The burning wood and charcoal release toxic emissions into the atmosphere. Biogas installations are clean and accessible alternatives. For example, biogas installations can convert organic waster, like manure, into energy. 3. Clean drinking water in Uganda According to UNICEF and The World Health Organization, 1 in 3 people globally do not have access to safe drinking water. For many people, the only way to purify their water is to boil it over an open fire. This results in harmful CO₂ emissions. With your account, you support boreholes that give people in Uganda access to clean water. The project also instals stoves that use less firewood. One of the most common causes of death in sub-Saharan Africa is contaminated drinking water, and the smoke people inhale from the open fires frequently causes respiratory diseases. This project saves greenhouse gases and contributes to better living and health conditions for the people in Uganda.
